push down the disappointment
it cracks the pavement
sprouts little prickly stems
with tiny blue flowers
beautiful but sickeningly sweet
a whiff might put you to sleep
like the poppies of Oz.
Next time plant those seeds in soil
water and tend
stake up so they don't touch the damp ground
maybe then they will produce the medicine you need.
